Linda Chatterton and Rachel Brandwein

The second performance of the year in our Merner Classical Concert Series is the flue and harp duo of Linda Chatterton and Rachel Brandwiein.

Flutist Linda Chatterton and harpist Rachel Brandwein have been performing together since 2013. Their collaboration has included concert tours in the US and the Far East, including a 2020-21 Minnesota State Arts Board Arts Tour grant to present concert and educational residencies in four greater Minnesota communities. This concert includes the world premiere of Rachel Brandwein’s “Minnesota City Sketches” for flute and harp, inspired by each of the four communities. Their repertoire encompasses traditional concert repertoire for flute and harp, their own arrangements for flute and harp of classical, folk and contemporary works, and new works written for them.

Ms. Chatterton has performed in New York at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, was a featured recitalist on the prestigious Dame Myra Hess series in Chicago, and has been heard throughout the US many times on National Public Radio’s Performance Today. A Minneapolis-based artist, Ms. Chatterton has performed with numerous groups including the Minnesota Orchestra, and she tours regularly as a duo performer with harp, guitar and piano. As a concerto soloist, highlights include many performances of traditional and contemporary repertoire in the US and Europe. She has served as a US State Department Arts Ambassador overseas.

Harpist Rachel Brandwein is winner of the 2014 Mu Phi Epsilon International Solo Competition and has performed concerts nationally from 2014-2016 as a representative of Mu Phi Epsilon International Music Fraternity. Among her performance and composition accomplishments are first prizes and grants in numerous regional and national competitions sponsored by the American Harp Society, American String Teachers Association, and Mu Phi Epsilon.

Tickets are $20, and can be purchased directly from the Cathedral office or at the door day of the performance.
